This year’s Mediterranean Yacht Show, which took place in Nafplion from the 4th to the 8th of May, saw 3 of Atalanta’s luxury crewed yachts sailing off with much coveted awards in the challenging Chefs’ Competition, the Tablescaping Competition and the new Designer Water Competition.
Once again, the chefs and stewards of the charter yachts exhibited their skills and creativity across a range of activities, highlighting the superb level of service one can expect from the Atalanta Golden Yachts fleet. Despite tough competition from the other participating crews, the elevated level of standards expected and the high demands of the expert judging panel, the crews of Atalanta Golden Yachts brought their game to play and scooped up an amazing 5 awards in total. When it comes to operating standards in its superior line-up of yachts available for charter, Atalanta Golden Yachts selects only the best personnel in their field and the winners proved that they really are the crème de la crème.
This year’s tough competition theme proved to be no obstacle to the participating chefs, who embraced the challenge to create imaginative dishes representing Gourmet ‘Beach’ Food. The majestic M/Y SOURAYA scored a hat trick in three categories, highlighting the skills of its creative crew. Konstantina Divoli took 1st place in the Category A' Platinum of the Chef’s Competition with her truly unique dish while the yacht’s steward Vasilis Aronis led the team to victory by winning 1st place in the Tablescaping competition. The M/Y SOURAYA went on to claim 3rd place in the Designer Water Contest, a new challenge organised by MYBA in which crews had to serve drinking water in an innovative and appealing way.
Another of Atalanta Golden Yachts’ charters, the magnificent M/Y CELIA, was runner up in the Category A' Platinum of the Chefs' Competition. Its chef, Konstantinos Vlantikas, greatly impressed the judges with his colourful dish, earning him 2nd place in the competition. In the Category A’ of the Chefs Competition, the spectacular M/Y SUNCOCO was granted 2nd place as its chef Stergios Karantzias bowled the judges over with his imaginative take on Gourmet ‘Beach’ Food.
Winning so many awards is no easy feat considering the high number of participating yachts at MEDYS this year and such skill on show. In addition, the dishes had to come under the scrutiny of very tough judges who are leaders in their profession. Chef Angelos Lantos of the award-winning Spondi Restaurant in Athens and the first Greek chef to be awarded 2 Michelin stars was one of the official judges and a hard critic to impress. Also, Executive Chef Thanos Stasinos of Nikkei Athens, Pacific in Monte Carlo and the Ritz Carlton in Valencia, was acting judge and expected to see a very high level of technique and creative flair.
All in all, the crews of Atalanta Golden Yachts impressed the judges immensely with their culinary prowess and set the tone for the superior level of gastronomy which one can expect to enjoy while chartering one of our yachts. The 6th Mediterranean Yacht Show, organized by the Greek Yachting Association (GYA) took place from 4 to 8 May, proved to be a resounding success, with 102 luxury crewed charter yachts participating in the event and more than 450 international brokers from 31 countries attending. The MEDYS 2019 was the biggest charter show in the world in terms of the total number of registered yachts (102) and their cumulative L.O.A of more than 3.5 km.
